TAKE CAUTION: FASTING IS NOT FOR EVERY BODY

Fasting can be incredibly healing. But when done improperly, it can be harmful.

Ayurveda emphasizes that improper suppression of natural urges like hunger can cause vata imbalance or regulatory problems with digestion. 

Fasting MUST NOT be used in individuals managing disordered eating or binge-and-restrict cycles of eating. 

 For the highest benefit, fasting is only applied to reduce ama (toxins) or to alleviate symptoms of imbalanced metabolism. As fasting is lightening, it can be depleting for those who are very young, very elderly, pregnant, breastfeeding, currently menstruating, underweight, or undernourished. Though it may be of good support, you may wish to consult your doctor about fasting while managing chronic illness.
